This one comes from the Mirror, so take it for whatever you feel that’s worth, but they’re reporting that Chelsea are “increasingly confident” that Hudson-Odoi will put pent to paper on a new deal “in the coming weeks”. That’s a new deal with Chelsea, to be specific, though that’s the only specific part in this whole thing.
That said, the report does fit the narrative, which has been in place for the past couple months, first thanks to Hudson-Odoi’s increasing involvement and importance to the first-team, then thanks to his major injury that will rule him out until at least the start of next season, but likely a bit longer.
While Bayern have turned their interest elsewhere (though have run into some difficulties in trying to secure Leroy Sané’s signature), Chelsea remain transfer banned and are set to lose Eden Hazard as well. Both of those developments are concerning, but they should provide Hudson-Odoi with a great chance to make a splash next season, once he recovers from his torn Achilles.
Sign him up!
Callum Hudson-Odoi will sign a new five year contract. The signing and confirmation is likely to be after Eden leaves as there is a huge possibility he will be getting the number ten shirt #CHOstays #CHO10 #OneOfOurOwn ✍ (did the hashtag work?
