One last time at home

Inter could reportedly sell Joao Miranda to make way for Diego Godin, with Sao Paulo interested in the €5m-rated defender. It is now practically confirmed Godin will join the Nerazzurri as a free agent when his contract with Atletico Madrid expires in June. Miranda is the likely candidate to leave, especially as Andrea Ranocchia has just signed a new deal. According to Fox Sports Brazil, Sao Paulo have revived their interest in Miranda after a summer approach and he is eager for a return to his homeland, as he turns 35 in September.

Manchester United will be offered the chance to sign goalkeeper Keylor Navas from Real Madrid, amid ongoing uncertainty over David de Gea’s future. Paris Saint-Germain are ready to bid for De Gea if he continues to stall over signing a new contract, with his existing United deal up in 2020. United have been linked with a move for Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak should they need to replace De Gea, but they will also be offered 32-year-old Navas.

Gattuso replacement

Gian Piero Gasperini has emerged as a candidate to replace Gennaro Gattuso as manager of AC Milan, according to Il Corriere dello Sport. The Atalanta boss has taken the team from Lombardi to within touching distance of the Champions League, and his work has attracted the attention of Milan bosses Leonardo, Paulo Maldini and Ivan Gazidis. The club are reportedly already decided that Gattuso has no future at San Siro, and will move to replace him even if the team qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Barca looking at Cilessen replacements

Barca are working to find a Jasper Cillessen substitute in the role of a second goalkeeper. The Dutch has already publicly stated that he wants to go out to look for continuity that will not be at Camp Nou, behind Ter Stegen. And work begins in the technical secretariat with a list of goalkeepers - Onana, Sommer and Pau Lopez.

Interest renewed

Napoli are reportedly considering Bournemouth’s €30m rated central defender Nathan Ake as a possible replacement for Raul Albiol. According to newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, the Azzurri have earmarked the former Chelsea player as a potential summer recruit.

Napoli have reached an agreement to sign PSV Eindhoven and Mexico winger Hirving ‘Chucky’ Lozano for €40m, claims the Corriere dello Sport. According to this morning’s edition of the Corriere dello Sport Campania, the deal for Lozano is done.

Neapolitan at heart

Multiple sources claim Lorenzo Insigne has agreed a new contract to remain with Napoli until June 2024. The captain has struggled with poor form in recent months and was even jeered by some of the fans at the Stadio San Paolo, prompting reports he would walk away. However, agent Mino Raiola held crisis talks this week and seems to have smoothed things over. According to several sources, including Sky Sport Italia, Rai Sport and Sportitalia, Insigne has now agreed an extended contract to June 2024.

United insist Pogba is still not for sale and Woodward remains determined to hold on to the £89million record signing who has huge commercial value. The player has two years left on his current £290,000-a-week contract, and United have the option to extend it by a further 12 months. But Old Trafford insiders believe United may listen to offers in excess of £160m if they are forced to accept that there is little point in keeping Pogba against his will.

The City revolution

Manchester City are closing in on a deal for Sporting Lisbon attacking midfielder Bruno Fernandes and are set to make a move for Benfica youngster Joao Felix. The MEN understands Fernandes, 24, has been identified as a creative reinforcement amid Ilkay Gundogan’s possible departure this summer. City playmaker David Silva’s contract ends next year and Fernandes has been identified as an attack-minded option to offset the Spaniard’s eventual departure. Felix, 19, has scored 16 in 30 appearances during a breakthrough season with Benfica and City are keen on the youngster.

The first round of negotiations by the medium began in Manchester. As our newspaper reported in due time, the City of Pep Guardiola asked Hugo Viana to a meeting, having as main theme the hiring of Bruno Fernandes. Plan B

Donny van de Beek has a tendency to arrive in the opposition’s area at an opportune time and he has the potential to achieve big things in Amsterdam or elsewhere. West Ham have stepped up interest in Alaves centre-back Guillermo Maripan. The 6ft 4ins Chilean centre-back has a buy out clause of £21million but West Ham are offering around £9.5m for the 26-year-old. The Hammers are hopeful of concluding a deal, though are aware interest still exists from Serie A giants Roma.

Nicolás Otamendi is close to Atlético Madrid. The club are very interested in making a deal with with Manchester City for the defender and Andrea Berta, Atlético’s sporting director, has initiated contacts with Jorge Mendes, the agent’s player.

Romelu Lukaku is considering his future at Manchester United amid doubts over his role under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Lukaku said at the weekend he did not know if he would be at United next season and a source close to Lukaku has told the MEN the 25-year-old believes he is uncertain of his position under the current regime.

Ajax move forward with ‘Plan Odegaard’

The Dutch side are ready to table a bid of 20 million euros for Odegaard with a Madrid-placating buy-back clause, although it will contain a sub-clause stating that the midfielder must spend at least two seasons at the Johan Cruijff Arena. That would give Real the option to bring Odegaard back to the Bernabéu in 2021, should the Liga club wish to do so.

Ryan Sessegnon has set his sights on joining Tottenham this summer. The 18-year-old has interest from Paris St Germain and Juventus but wants to stay in the Premier League and Tottenham is his preferred destination. Sessegnon, who turns 19 later this month, has one year left on contract though Fulham are still expected to demand around £35million.

Serie A new boys Brescia reportedly ‘dream’ of bringing Italy striker Mario Balotelli to the club this summer. According to Corriere della Sera and Corriere dello Sport, Balotelli is also keen on making the move. The 28-year-old has a house 200 metres away from Brescia’s stadium and celebrated their promotion on social media.

Juventus have reportedly held talks with Inter over the signing of striker Mauro Icardi. According to Corriere di Torino, Juve sporting director Fabio Paratici met Inter counterpart Piero Ausilio during Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final between Tottenham Hotspur and Ajax in London.
