Is a target

Liverpool have made enquiries over Brazilian teenager Joao Pedro who is due to join Watford. The 17-year-old has already agreed to sign for Watford in a deal worth an initial £2million and is due to arrive in January 2020. However, there is a clause in his contract that says should the planned move to Watford falter, then the Vicarage Road side must be paid £20million by the rival club.

Not a target

Liverpool are not planning to make a summer move for Lyon forward Memphis Depay, Sky Sports News understands. Reports in the national press have suggested the Netherlands international is a target for Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. But Sky Sports News understands Liverpool are not interested in Depay and will not be pursuing a deal for the former Manchester United player.

Went to Besiktas

Adem Ljajic spent this past season in the Turkish Super Lig, playing with Besiktas. Between the league and the Europa League, he made 32 appearances scoring nine goals, a number that allows the Turkish club to reach the condition of the option to buy on his contract - this was set at 6 million euros.

Heir to Raul

Napoli have joined Juventus, Arsenal and Manchester United in pursuit of Roma defender Kostas Manolas, who is available for €36m. The Greek international’s contract includes a surprisingly low release clause of just €36m and it is open to clubs inside Italy too. Now Il Tempo newspaper suggests Napoli are ready to make an offer too, seeing Manolas as an ideal heir to Raul Albiol, able to partner Kalidou Koulibaly.

Neymar to stay for now

Neymar Jr will remain at Paris Saint-Germain next season with the aim of getting fully fit and demonstrating to the club, their fans, and the watching world, what he is truly capable of. This is the story coming out of Téléfoot on Sunday. According to the programme on French television, neither the player nor those around him are now keen to leave Paris, at least this summer. With recurring injuries blighting his time since moving to Ligue 1, the 27-year old is now hoping to put them behind him and, with a bit of luck, show his full potential across the whole season.

Gazump

West Ham have made an offer to Barcelona in the region of £18m for Andre Gomes. The 25-year-old Portugal international spent last season on loan at Everton, where he made 27 Premier League appearances. While the Merseyside club would like to retain Gomes, no preferential option to buy the midfielder was included in last summer’s single-season loan deal.

Back to the future

Aurelio De Laurentiis is thinking about Quagliarella for Naples. It would be the great comeback in the team, the one that the tragedy has taken away to Fabio in the past. But the bomber of Sampdoria and Serie A (first on 26 goals), to be honest, has so far considered the possibility to change knitting and greet Genoa. Is this the ultimate backstage, fine words and mutual appreciation, but no direct contact between the parties.

Uphill

Manchester United are facing complex battle to sign Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United. Longstaff has been identified by Man United after a series of glowing scouting reports that landed on the desk of Ole Gunnar Solksjaer. An official bid is yet to be tabled by the Red Devils but after Geordie coach Michael Carrick also recommended the youngster to Solksjaer, he is definitely on their wish-list. Whether the 20-times English champions come in at the £25million price that has been bandied about in recent days remains to be seen.
