We haven’t had an update regarding Eden Hazard’s future for a long minute or two — all attention on Sarri’s future instead — but that’s also because Chelsea players have been away on brief vacations following the end of the league season and the charity friendly in Boston. But now we’re back and gearing up for the Europa League final.
Media was held earlier this week, followed by a press conference, so all the usual questions had a chance to be asked. And that means most of the usual answers had a chance to be given as well.
Here’s Hazard’s approximately 19875th “we’ll see” when talking about his Chelsea future.
“My last match? I do not think that at all. I’m only thinking about winning this match and then what will happen after that will happen. I have an important week to prepare, with a trophy to play for.”
As with Willian’s million dollar smile, there are many ways to interpret this, but Hazard’s never been one to be overly concerned about his future. He knows he’s good, he knows he’s in demand, and he knows he’ll be happy because why wouldn’t he be happy. All signs continue to point to him leaving of course, but until the ink dries on a contract (be that on Real Madrid or Chelsea stationary), nothing is for certain.
So might as well focus on more tangible things, like beating Arsenal.
“It’s a bit far, but we are preparing for it in the same way as if it was in the Premier League. It’s a European final, a great moment for both clubs.
“I’ve been lucky enough to win the Europa League already with Chelsea, but I want to win it a second time. We’ll go motivated like never before and try and win the match.”

Like never before? Let’s hope so.
