Following on the heels of Olivier Giroud’s contract yesterday, and David Luiz’s two weeks ago, Chelsea have opted to extend the contract of another veteran member of our first-team squad. This time, it is backup goalkeeper Wilfredo Caballero who’s been granted and agreed to a one-year extension with the club.

Earlier this week, there were rumours of the goalkeeper’s potential exit on a free transfer, since his contract was set to expire at the end of the season. West Ham were named as a likely destination, with Willy’s former manager from Málaga and Manchester City, Manuel Pellegrini, looking to link up with him again.
But we put all those rumours to bed with this extension, thus guaranteeing that the Blues keep a capable backup to Kepa Arrizabalaga. It’s also a way to avoid adding another priority to our summer shopping list, in case we’re allowed to do that in the first place.
Let’s keep winning things, Willy!
