After a week of traveling, fundraising, and resting, Chelsea have returned to training at Cobham today ahead of next Wednesday’s Europa League final against Arsenal in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The football world’s attention may already be almost completely on Silly Season, but we actually have that bit of competitive football to take care of, and there’s even a trophy on the line, and it’s against the Gunners, so it really is a must-win. It’s a chance for Sarri to actually win something, too, in what may yet be his final contribution to the club if rumors are to be believed. It’s promising to be a strange summer once again, so it sure would be nice to send us off into with a trophy in hand.
In any case, Chelsea are dealing with multiple key injuries ahead of next week’s final, with a trio of potential starters all ruled out with long-term injuries in Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Antonio Rudiger, and Callum Hudson-Odoi. But one injury that looks to be trending in a positive direction is that of N’Golo Kante, who was a full participant in today’s training having missed the last two weeks with a hamstring problem.
At last, some good news!
