Callum Hudson-Odoi’s future remains unclear, both in the short-term after a recent surgery following a ruptured Achilles, and in the long-term with an expiring contract next summer and constant rumblings of interest from Bayern Munich.

Today, Nizaar Kinsella, Goal’s Chelsea correspondent, has some good news regarding the latter.

Acoording to the report, Hudson-Odoi is “increasingly open” towards staying at the club, especially if he is to be a vital part of the first-team next season and beyond. The 18-year-old’s main concern was always regarding gametime, more so than the exact amount of money on offer.

Hudson-Odoi played a big part in Chelsea’s turnaround after the heavy defeats to Manchester City and Bournemouth earlier this year, eventually setting us up to finish in the top four. Giving him more playing time certainly shouldn’t be too much of an ask, especially if Eden Hazard were to leave, which looks likely. In fact, Hudson-Odoi just might take over the No.10 shirt as things stand. That certainly would be a statement of intent on the club’s part.

Following a successful surgery, Callum is expected to complete his rehabilitation in the next 3-6 months and possibly be ready even for the start of the season. While that may not deter Bayern from making another push, the commitment shown in the meantime by Chelsea just might change his mind.

Here’s hoping that will be the case soon, and Hudson-Odoi lights up the Premier League for years to come in Chelsea colours!
