More smoke

Inter are closing in on securing a €50 million (£43m/$56m) move for Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic, Goal understands. The Serie A side, who have been following Rakitic for a while now, are desperate to pull themselves closer to Juventus in the 2019-20 season and want to put together a team that’s capable of mounting a title challenge. The Croatian is seen as a key part of that ambition, while, as reported by Goal, Antonio Conte is also being lined up to replace Luciano Spalletti as head coach.

Austerity

Goodbye

Real make their move for Mendy

The Frenchman is delighted to be linked with Madrid, but now Los Blancos must try to close a deal with Jean-Michel Aulas, who values Mendy at around 45 million euros. The issue for Lyon, at present, is they do not know if they will be playing in the Champions League or not; they are currently third, with just the top-three achieving Champions League football in France, but they have rivals Saint-Etienne hot on their heels. They have not even decided on their coach for next season either, following Bruno Genesio’s announcement that he would leaving once his deal expires in the summer.

PSG make offer for DDG?

One more time for Allan

Paris Saint-Germain are ready to pay between 60-80m for Napoli midfielder Allan, according to L’Equipe newspaper. The Ligue 1 giants had already attempted to sign Allan over the January transfer window, but were rebuffed. Their interest in the Brazil international has never waned and they are preparing another swoop this summer.

Complication

With Spurs’ Danish player Christian Eriksen and Real Madrid already establishing a verbal agreement that would see the Dane moving to the Spanish capital at the end of the season, directors at the La Liga club are now concerned that the English side reaching the final of the 2018-19 Champions League may complicate or potentially even jeopardize the move. It’s feared that a Spurs win in their debut final may see the English club do all in their power to retain the midfielder.

London to Portugal

Luciano Vietto will be a Sporting Portugal player next season. Atlético Madrid transferred the Argentine to the Portuguese club, who signed for five years, until June 2024. The agreement is complete and the player was on Thursday in Lisbon passing the relevant exams and finished polishing the details of his new contract.

The next Old lady manager

Should Allegri leave the Serie A champions we can however exclude Antonio Conte returning since the former Chelsea manager is very close to joining Inter. On the other hand Pep Guardiola is the name that is exciting Bianconeri fans, but Manchester City have no intention of letting out of his contract which still has two years in it and an annual salary of €19 million- this route can also be excluded.

Mauricio Pochettino confirmed he could leave Tottenham Hotspur amid reports he wants a €20m contract to join Juventus, but Didier Deschamps is another candidate. Rumors are growing that Max Allegri and Juve President Andrea Agnelli will decide to part company this summer after five years together. According to Sky Sport Italia and Tuttosport, the most likely option is current France manager Deschamps, as Antonio Conte is heading towards Inter. Another candidate rapidly rising the ranks is Pochettino, especially after he again hinted at a possible exit from Tottenham Hotspur. Corriere dello Sport claims he requested personal terms that would net him €20m.

Decision time

Atletico Madrid face a decision on Alvaro Morata’s future this summer with the striker currently on loan from Chelsea, say Diario AS. The most likely option is that Los Rojiblancos deposit the €18m with the West London club to sign the player on loan for the entirety of the 2019-20 campaign, says the report. However, there are options still available for the player to return to Stamford Bridge or for Atleti to negotiate over a permanent transfer.
