Chelsea veteran defender David Luiz has been an instrumental part of the club’s new look under Maurizio Sarri. But his contract was expiring and seemingly no advancements were made in the negotiations over a new deal.
Thankfully, it’s all been sorted out to everyone’s satisfaction. And today, David Luiz has put pen to paper on a new deal to extend his tenure at Stamford Bridge.
And it’s not just any deal, it’s a two-year contract even though he’s over 30 years old. Breaking the rules!
This geezer has signed a new contract!

Congratulations, @DavidLuiz_4!
“I am so happy to be here and to have this opportunity to stay. I love this club and I still have the ambition of a young player.
“It means a lot to reach another European final, and we still have the opportunity to finish in the top three of the Premier League this season and I will continue to try to do my best to help the team.”

David has always made his desire to stay at Stamford Bridge quite clear, and it’s good to keep a great influence in our dressing room for a further TWO years!
“We are delighted David Luiz will be staying with the club. He has set the perfect example to those around him throughout the campaign and been a huge influence on and off the pitch.
“With the Europa League final still to come, we hope to finish off the season with silverware and David will be central to that success in Baku and beyond.”
