BVB-bound Thorgan Hazard won’t be drawn on Eden Hazard Real Madrid speculation

Former Chelsea prospect Thorgan Hazard sounds set to join Borussia Dortmund this summer, assuming that BVB can find an agreement over a transfer with Borussia Mönchengladbach. The second of the Hazards has already confirmed that he has a personal agreement with BVB, which does put Gladbach in a slightly disadvantageous position when it comes to negotiating the price, which is expected to be somewhere between €25m and €40m.

Thorgan’s agreement also means that even if Chelsea do have a buyback clause for him — and BILD are reporting that we in fact do have one, contrary to multiple reports over the years to the contrary, valid only this summer — he’s unlikely to want to come back. Ironically, his purchase will be funded by Chelsea, again, as BVB reinvest the Pulisic money.

So there still won’t a be a Double Hazard dream at Chelsea, especially if Hazard gathers his belonging and makes a summer move as well. In his interview with VTM, he did get asked about the Eden situation, but while he admitted the usual things about Zidane and Galacticos and dreams, he refused to be drawn on it any further.

Yesterday, Hazard gave an equally cryptic answer when asked about his and Chelsea’s Champions League ambitions.

Sure, he’s probably gone, but you never know how the endgame’s going to turn out.
