Clear-out
Unai Emery will sanction an Arsenal clear-out this summer — with defender Shkodran Mustafi among the players for sale. Emery will head into the transfer window with a budget of as little as £45million. But the manager, who has impressed the Gunners hierarchy during his first season, has been told he can reinvest a significant amount of any money raised from player sales.

Reassurances
David De Gea wants reassurances about the club’s future transfer policy before committing to a new long-term contract at Manchester United. The Spanish goalkeeper’s contract is set to expire in summer 2020 and the keeper remains minded to stay at Old Trafford despite the club’s refusal so far to meet his wage demands and the agent fees of Jorge Mendes. The club and player are expected to reach a compromise over a wage package worth £350,000-per-week.

How nice
The Championship club realizes Jack Butland needs top-flight football to follow his England dream, and will let him go, but not for less than £30m ($39m), say The Telegraph. Suitors for Butland include Bournemouth and Crystal Palace, and the ‘keeper has been told by Gareth Southgate he needs to play in an elite league to feature for England.

Right.... back
Manchester United are considering Thomas Meunier as an option for the troublesome right-back position this summer. The Paris Saint-Germain defender would represent an experienced choice to fill Antonio Valencia’s boots when the Ecuadorean veteran leaves the club at the end of the season. United’s hierarchy likes Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Kieran Trippier as longer-term signings but Meunier, a big United fan, would be both affordable and far easier to negotiate than trying to pry Wan-Bissaka or Trippier away from reluctant selling clubs. The same applies for Reece James at Chelsea.

Void filler
Crystal Palace have identified Jack Grealish as one player capable of helping fill the attacking void if they lose Wilfried Zaha. Palace are open to letting Zaha leave this summer and value the influential forward at £80m. Any money received from a sale would be reinvested in their squad with Aston Villa skipper Grealish, who also remains on Tottenham’s long list of targets, in Palace’s sights.

Permanent or temporary
Dani Ceballos could lead the exits from Real Madrid this summer with Marcos Llorente and Sergio Reguilon also tipped to depart, say Marca. Ceballos joined Madrid from Real Betis for €16m in 2017 but started just four times in La Liga and not at all in the Champions League under Zinedine Zidane last season.

Real Madrid plan to loan out Jesus Vallejo and Brahim Diaz (pictured) this summer in the hope they will gain first-team experience, say Diario AS. Diaz, 19, joined Los Blancos in January in a €15m move from Manchester City but last month’s league victory over Huesca was his first start for the club. Earlier this month, Marca had claimed the Malaga-native would be allowed to leave Madrid on loan this summer in order to get first-team experience elsewhere.

PSG also looking at Icardi
Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly ready to sign Inter striker Mauro Icardi, who has a €70m asking price. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Icardi is PSG’s top transfer target this summer as they look to replace Edinson Cavani. While no talks have taken place yet, they are ‘ahead’ of the competition. Inter would be demanding €70m for the Argentine, whose stock has fallen since his six-week exile from the first team.

Moroccan at Internazionale

Impasse
Distance has reportedly emerged in contract talks between Roma and midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo. Zaniolo’s family have always maintained that the 19-year-old will sign a new contract with Roma, but Il Messaggero believes a potential stumbling block has cropped up. That would be as the Giallorossi want to pay him a salary of €1.7m plus bonuses until 2024, while the Italy starlet is requesting only an improvement on his current deal, worth more than €2m a season.
