David Luiz laments missed chances against Liverpool

So close to winning it!

Matches at Anfield are never meant to be easy. This season, Liverpool's only loss at their home ground was in the League Cup against Chelsea, when two goals in the final 15 minutes, including a goal of the season candidate by super-sub Eden Hazard, eliminated the Reds from the competition.

Chelsea had hoped to repeat that feat today in the Premier League, and also pay homage to 'The Slip' from five seasons ago when, but it was simply not meant to be. Chelsea were unable to convert any of our chances. Liverpool did not have such troubles.

Now all we can do is lament this missed opportunity, as defender David Luiz right after 90 minutes were up.

“It was a hard game. A game where we also had our chances, but unfortunately we could not turn them into goals.

“Liverpool started the second half well, they managed to get goals and right after that we had chances to get some, but it is never easy playing here. They are a team who are doing quite well this season, with great qualities, a great manager, great players.”

“And here at Anfield it is always quite hard [to play], so we had a great game but at the end we could not grab a point [out of it]”

It is not the end of the world for Chelsea, who still sit in the top four with 66 points in 34 matches. However, we are completely dependent on Arsenal or Spurs or Manchester United screwing things up for themselves. That's certainly a possibility, but not as nice as controlling our own destiny.
