Former Chelsea striker and football nomad Nicolas Anelka certainly had a very interesting life and career.
A supremely talented footballer, he took his first steps at the famed Clairefontaine academy in France before joining Paris Saint-Germain and starting his profiessional career. From there, he took on opportunities at several top tier clubs throughout Europe, including Arsenal, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester City, Juventus, and of course Chelsea, where he spent the longest time: four years!
Unfortunately he was also a bit of a maker of and magnet for trouble and controversy, some real, some manufactured, but always fascinating. He had a history of failing to connect with teammates and managers at club and national team levels, and even with supporters at times.
It all should makes me for a very interesting tale when it comes to Netflix as a documentary next year.

As per Variety’s report, Anelka’s eponymous documentary will feature the likes of Arsenal coach Arsène Wenger, comedian Omar Sy, French football legends Patrice Evra and Thierry Henry, and World Cup winner Paul Pogba.
Should be a good one!
