1. HUDSON-ODOI (6.1, sub)
Minutes: 17
Touches: 14
Passes: 8/11
Shots: 1/1
Obviously, this rating has nothing to do with Hudson-Odoi’s actual performance. There were very few things to feel ...not terrible... about from Sunday night, and the 18-year-old’s substitute appearance was about as good as it got. At this point it’s abundantly clear that this kid is the future of Chelsea (or at least has to be given the chance to be the future of Chelsea), with or without Hazard staying, with or without Pulisic living up to expectations.
2. ARRIZABALAGA (6.1)
Minutes: 90
Touches: 34
Passes:
Saves: 6
The true Man of the Match is probably Kepa, who made six (6!) saves and still had to pick the ball twice out his net. A bit unlucky to give up both goals on rebounds, in fact, especially on Sigurdsson’s penalty.
One thing to note is that despite the disparity in first vs. second halves, Everton clearly did much more with their 45 minutes than Chelsea, including such basic things as getting their shots on target. Chelsea’s “good” half featured 11 shots but just 3 on target. Everton’s “good” half featured 12 shots with 7 on target! A whopping 11 of those 12 shots came from inside the penalty area, one more than the 10 from Chelsea for the whole game (17 shots over the 90 minutes).
3. KANTÉ (5.7)
Minutes: 90
Touches: 93
Passes: 67/81
Take-ons: 3/6
Tackles+Blocks: 2+2
Please don’t ever leave us, N’Golo.
