After a rare midweek break, Chelsea take on league leaders Manchester City on Sunday as the revitalized title race between the blue half of Manchester and the red half of Liverpool gets cranked up an extra notch. Neither of those look invincible and if Chelsea can bring out big-game mentality, we just might live up Pep Guardiola’s “big bull” billing.
With seven days to rest and prepare, Maurizio Sarri has the whole squad at his disposal. Antonio Rüdiger picked up a minor knee problem last weekend, which restricted him to bench duty, but Andreas Christensen deputized with aplomb against the worst team in the league. This weekend’s test is slightly tougher — just a teeny tiny little bit — obviously.
Chelsea are not expected to win this one, to be sure, but the three-way race for the last spot in the top four is almost as hotly contested as the title itself and every little point or perhaps even goal difference will count.
