1. EDEN HAZARD (5.7)
Minutes: 90
Touches: 90
Passes: 42/51
Shots: 0/3
Take-ons: 7/11
Fouls drawn: 5
Tackles+INTs+Blocks: 3+2+1
Out of context, Hazard’s numbers look quite good, even on the defensive end, where he made a number of tackles and deep recovery runs, the latter of which isn’t tracked by Opta publicly. His take-ons and shots are also decent, while only Jorginho had more touches. The numbers look good, but the final outcome did not. Still, credit for trying, I suppose.
2. N’GOLO KANTÉ (5.5)
Minutes: 90
Touches: 74
Passes: 54/58
Shots: 0/1
Take-ons: 0/2
Tackles+INTs+Blocks: 3+1+3
Kanté has been trying all season of course, and it was no different on Monday, but it’s still far from a well-oiled machine in midfield from Chelsea, and that includes Kanté running around on the right side.
3. GONZALO HIGUAÍN (4.8)
Minutes: 90
Touches: 32
Passes: 17/19
Shots: 0/3
Fouls drawn: 2
Tackles+INTs: 1+2
Higuaín has reached the podium in 3 of this 5 appearances so far, which is good, but his raw ratings are some of the worst on the team. He’s hardly alone in that trend — in fact, the average of all players’ ratings (6.3) is now just a tenth above the “Mourinho Season”.
