LIVE BLOG:

FT: Phew. It’s over.

79min: David Silva does David Silva things and puts Zinchenko in space down the left with an impeccably weighted pass. The left-back crosses to Jesus, who makes it 6. SIX. 6-0.

78min: Loftus-Cheek dribbles well and wins a free-kick at the edge of the area for Emerson, who gets it within the frame of the goal but not much else.

74min: Gabriel Jesus is one-on-one with Kepa but is put off balance by Luiz, who appears to push him from behind. Chelsea have got away with that one. Meanwhile, David Silva replaces Fernandinho.

72min: Emerson replaces Marcos Alonso.

66min: Fernandinho tests Kepa from far out.

63min: Eden Hazard fires into the side netting, and there’s a substitution apiece; Gabriel Jesus gets a run out, replacing Aguero and Ruben Loftus-Cheek replaces Pedro.

59min: Aguero has another pop with his left foot but it’s from an acute angle and rather wayward.

58min: De Bruyne hits the target with a free-kick, it’s a comfortable save for Kepa.

55min: Five. Aguero sends Kepa the wrong way and seals his hat-trick.

54min: Raheem Sterling leaves Azpilicueta for dead and gets taken down, penalty to City.

51min: Kovacic replaces Barkley in a well-overdue substitution.

50min: Excellent wing-play from De Bruyne almost follows with Aguero netting a header but Kepa saves.

45min: The second half begins. Can we salvage anything at all?

HT: A whirwind 25 opening minutes saw Manchester City go four goals to the good. Chelsea then had some attempts on goal but didn’t really trouble Ederson apart from Higuain’s long-range strike. Is this mental confusion? Manchester City 4 - 0 Chelsea.

37min: Higuain has undoubtedly been our best attacker today. This time he unleashes a piledriver from distance and Ederson does well to stop it ripping through the top corner.

29min: Higuain is the next to shoot, from an Alonso cross, but his half-volley is blocked and goes out for a corner. An improvement, I guess.

28min: Pedro has a great chance to pull one back for Chelsea as Higuain sets him through with a deft touch, but the winger doesn’t particularly draw much effort from Ederson.

23min: Ilkay Gundogan has all the time in the world to shoot from distance, and puts it past Kepa. 4-0.

18min: Ross Barkley’s misguided header proves to be the perfect assist for Sergio Aguero, about 5cm in front of goal. 3-0.

14min: Aguero redeems himself for the earlier blunder with a ridiculous finish. 2-0.

11min: Hazard tries to take matters into his own hands, advancing strongly and shooting but it’s a tame effort, straight at Ederson.

7min: Bernardo skips past a bunch of defenders and puts it on a plate for Aguero but he inexplicably misses the target altogether.

3min: Bernardo Silva receives the ball in a lot of space rather casually, via a De Bruyne free-kick. His cross hits a Chelsea player and falls into the path of Sterling, who shoots powerfully and scores. 1-0.

2min: A lobbed pass from Jorginho attempts to release Higuain but it’s just a little overhit.

0min: City get us kicked off.

Chelsea face off against formidable opponents in Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, in their own lair no less. Even a point would see the Blues back in the top four at Manchester United’s expense but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be going for all three points. Come on, Chelsea!
