Wouldn’t mind staying and playing until he’s 40

On the back of a match-winning performance against Tottenham Hotspur, quite possibly his greatest match in 6.5 seasons and over 300 appearances at Chelsea, Gorgeous Willian Borges has launched another public appeal (dot org dot uk) for a contract extension.

“Everyone knows how I love this club and how I enjoy to play for Chelsea. If I can, I will stay here until I am 40 years old but football is not always like this.

“[I want to stay] because I like to play here. It’s not only my decision, we have to decide together with the club. We’ve had some conversations.

”I hope I can say to you guys that I will stay but now I cannot say.”

Turning 32 this summer, Willian’s unlikely to receive an 8-year contract extension. Or even a 2-year contract extension. But maybe we can work out another year? If Willian wants to stay so badly, surely we can find a happy medium between both sides’ demands.
