It is not okay to make racist remarks and gestures.

Yesterday’s match was halted by disgusting racial abuse towards Chelsea’s Antonio Rüdiger. Today, further information regarding a second offence of racial abuse, this time towards Son Heung-min has come to light.

According to the Guardian, and confirmed by Metropolitan Police, a Chelsea supporter was ejected from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and arrested for racially abusing Tottenham’s Son Heung-min. The incident was reported to the authorities by other Chelsea away fans.

This is yet another unfortunate incident of racial abuse. It is astonishing that as we approach 2020, abhorrent racial abuse is continuing to plague football. More importantly, extrapolating to the bigger picture, the fact that this type of behavior still exists in society is unsettling.

We are days away from the new year, and the promise of a better tomorrow cannot come soon enough. Be good to one another. KTBFFH.
