LIVE BLOG

FULL TIME: Chelsea lose again.

90+4min: Chelsea finally show some real urgency and pepper in a few crosses, but Bournemouth hang on. Then Hudson-Odoi chips a cross wide of the goal.

90+3min: Hudson-Odoi wins a corner, he takes it and Kovačić gets a shot away as Bournemouth fail to clear, but Ramsdale’s down to save.

90min: 5 minutes added on.

87min: Chelsea need a goal or two, but it’s Bournemouth who come again. Solanke’s shot is blocked.

85min: GOAL. Gosling. Chelsea fail to clear and Gosling hooks the ball over Arrizabalaga’s head. He’s called offside, but VAR corrects that mistake. 1-0, Bournemouth.

84min: Bournemouth counter, but Chelsea cover. Eventually, Rüdiger blocks a cross for a corner.

82min: Gosling’s turn to into the book as Kanté tries to turn upfield but is pulled back.

81min: Kovačić blocks Solanke to stop a counter and get a yellow card. Solanke had wriggled past two to relieve pressure for Bournemouth.

80min: Emerson tries a cross from the left, blocked. Chelsea back in possession, as Bournemouth cling on.

78min: Jorginho off, Batshuayi on as we go 4-2-2-2?

75min: Chelsea push on the left but Mount’s cross is headed clear. King had stayed down behind the ball, having hurt himself; he’s replaced by Solanke, who’s primed to win the game now for the visitors.

72min: Abraham gets a rare touch in the area, but he’s wide of the net and can only work a cross, which doesn’t find a target. Chelsea maintain the pressure and Abraham gets on the ball again with his back to goal. He twist and turns and creates havoc and the ball eventually floats to Emerson, who’s wide open 5 yards out but heads the ball straight into the arms of the goalkeeper with the entire net to aim at.

68min: That’s better from CHO as he wins a foul level with the penalty spot, wide right. Mount takes the set piece, but it’s too deep. Emerson collects on the far side and Chelsea have to build again.

66min: CHO’s first bit of action is to give the ball away to King with a heavy touch. King then nutmegs Rüdiger and puts the ball across, where Gosling is inches away from a tap-in. Massive letoff for the Blues.

65min: Hudson-Odoi and Kovačić on for Pulisic and Willian as we switch to a 4-3-3.

63min: In comes the free kick, Rüdiger heads out and Zouma clears in the second phase.

62min: Another footrace between King and Zouma as Bournemouth pump one high and long. Zouma clears for a corner, which Chelsea clear. But Bournemouth come again and Fraser wins another foul wide.

61min: Willian’s latest corner is cleared by Billing again at the near post.

60min: Abraham tracks back to nick the ball and Pulisic pounces on it to drive at the net. He’s surrounded by three by still gets his shot away, winning a corner. Willian takes and cause some havoc in the area, but can’t quite bundle the ball into the net. Eventually a Willian effort is blocked for another corner.

58min: The free kick is in pure Willian territory. And so he takes. But he doesn’t beat the wall (replays show that it could’ve easily been called a handball on the defender on the end of the wall). Chelsea keep the rebound alive and work it wide left. Pulisic beats a man and puts it across; it flies over the head of the goalkeeper but it’s also out of the reach of Abraham at the far post.

57min: Willian wins a corner, which he takes. Chelsea can’t quite create a shot from it, but Zouma wins a foul just outside the top of the box.

54min: Bournemouth work a cross from the left side, but Rüdiger’s there to block for a throw. In comes the long throw, which Chelsea eventually scramble away, but it was far from pretty.

51min: Willian’s pass wide is cut out by Fraser and he sends King on a footrace with Zouma. He keeps up and defends well 1-v-1, blocking the shot.

50min: Lewis Cook first into the book as Emerson beats him to a 50-50 and gets wiped out for his troubles.

49min: Bournemouth find an opening up the right flank after King wins a foul off Zouma, but Stacey’s cross is blocked by Emerson. Bournemouth maintain possession for a bit before Kanté forces Billing to run the ball out for a goal kick.

46min: No changes for either side as the second half begins as the first half ended, with Chelsea in possession, probing ineffectively.

HALF-TIME: A flat and quite disjointed performance from Chelsea in the first 45. Significant improvement required.

45+2min: Kanté wins a corner as he drives the line. Willian with the outswinger finds Abraham in the center of the area, but his header goes harmlessly over the bar.

45min: Pulisic strays offside as Emerson tries to find him. Chelsea badly out of synch so far.

43min: Bournemouth get the bounce and find space behind Emerson, but Rüdiger’s across to clear for a throw. The long throw is headed out for a corner by Zouma. The corner’s an inswinger, which Chelsea once again have issues in clearing. Azpi eventually blocks Fraser’s cross for a throw, from which they win another corner. Chelsea clear comfortably this time.

39min: Willian’s latest cross is headed back across by Pulisic at the far post, but no one’s there to finish. Chelsea then win a corner from a wild clearance, but Bournemouth win the first header and Emerson strays offside in the second phase.

38min: Rüdiger finds Willian, but his flick for Abraham doesn’t come off. Bournemouth try to counter, but Rüdiger stays strong and wins the ball and the foul off King.

34min: Fraser and Azpilicueta in a foot race for the ball. Fraser then takes a dive and gets the call for the free kick, level with the penalty spot. Fraser swings it in, Rüdiger’s header is straight up but as Chelsea bumble around in trying to clear it, Gosling strays offside and we get a free kick.

32min: Jorginho finds Kanté who has some space to drive forward. He plays wide to Willian whose cross is blocked. Mount then loses his footing and Bournemouth have a chance to counter, which Jorginho covers cleanly.

31min: Emerson and Mount combine well, but then Mount and Pulisic are on a different wavelength and the move breaks down.

29min: Kanté plays a 1-2 with Azpilicueta on the right, but his cross is blocked for a corner. Emerson takes this time, it’s whipped in with pace, but cleared at the front post.

25min: Willian drives into the area and plays a square ball across the top, which is dummied by Abraham but Mount’s touch is heavy and the defense can get a foot to it, which allows the goalkeeper to pounce and collect.

24min: Chelsea win a corner, which Willian takes. Rüdiger gets his head to the outswinger, but can’t quite generate a shot. Bournemouth eventually clear for another corner, which wasted by Willian as the first defender clears.

23min: A succession of throws up the right flank as Bournemouth work their way into the last third, but then their pass goes awry and we have a goal kick. It’s all rather flat and stop-start.

21min: Chelsea try to find an opening in Bournemouth’s compact block, but there’s nothing there. A Jorginho foul prevents a potential counter. No card.

19min: Willian’s taken out from behind by a Billing slide tackle. No card?!

16min: Kanté drives upfield on the right, playing it wide to Azpilicueta, whose cross finds Abraham and he goes for goal with a first-time effort. It ripples the net, but only the outside of it.

15min: Fraser’s day looks to be over, getting extended treatment for the ankle injury he picked up a few minutes prior. But he’s back on, for now.

13min: Willian’s fouled out wide right, level with the penalty spot. Emerson, who did so well on set pieces midweek, swings it in, but it’s over the head of Rüdiger at the far post and goes out for a goal kick.

11min: Rüdiger’s long diagonal switch finds Emerson, who drives at goal and eventually decides to go at it alone. His shot is deflected however, which takes the power off of it and Ramsdale can catch.

9min: Pulisic and Fraser trade runs at goal that end with each of them losing their footing. The latter looks to have hurt himself in the process.

8min: A first-time Jorginho ball over the top finds Mount in the area. He takes it down with his chest and goes for goal, but Ramsdale’s out quickly to spread himself and block. Good effort, better save.

7min: Couple midfield giveaways turn into a couple Bournemouth crosses, which are both cleared. Sloppy from Chelsea.

4min: Chelsea build on the right with Abraham and Willian. Willian drives to the byline, but his cross is deflected and the goalkeeper claims.

3min: Chelsea have to clear a couple crosses, then Fraser tests Arrizabalaga at his near post. The keeper’s down to block and Azpi clears the rebound.

1min: The teams trade aimless long balls to begin things here.

KICK-OFF: And we’re off!

Three easy points on offer today; question is, can we make it easy on ourselves and collect all three of them?

Recent evidence suggests it will be (unnecessarily) exciting.

Looks like Lampard has opted for an attacking 4-2-3-1, with Mount preferred to Kovačić, who gets a much-needed rest after 12 straight starts.
