Our FA Cup campaign is set to begin next month, and this one’s a bit more special than most as this year marks the 50th anniversary of our first ever FA Cup trophy. Chelsea beat Leeds United in that historic Cup final (replay!) at Old Trafford, and the shirt we wore that day is making a comeback.
Chelsea teased this “fourth” shirt / “Cup kit”, whatever you want to call it, last week with just the badge (the lion rampant in golden yellow, with a red staff, “CFC” wordmark underneath), the shirt color (classic royal blue), and this season’s marketing slogan, “It’s a Chelsea thing”, promising to reveal the whole thing on December 21 just in time for some last-minute Christmas shopping.
But in this day and age, there’s no such thing as a secret when it comes to football shirts. Footy Headlines of course has a leak of the kit already.
And yes, it’s perfect.

Here are a couple better looks, even, from whoever “Ofoball” may be. The thing to notice is that yes, they are still Nike shirts and have the tab on the back of the neck, and they are still official shirts in that they have a sponsor. But the Yokohama branding is in tonal blue, and that includes their logo, which is usually red, and even the Nike swoosh itself!
In these modern times, this is as clean as it gets.

BONUS reveal: Of course a shirt will be accompanied by lifestyle and training products as well, and one of those has been revealed as well. Here’s a simple blue t-shirt with just the golden yellow lion and CFC wordmark. Yeah, I can dig this.
Footy Headlines have released this image of a Nike t-shirt as part of Chelsea’s 50 year anniversary of winning the F.A Cup for the 1st time in 1970. I absolutely love this & I can’t wait for the unveiling of the new kit on 21.12.19. I just hope it’s reasonably priced! #FACup70 pic.twitter.com/nWwfifMO90
