Chelsea fans’ preferred lineup against Ajax: No changes as Pulisic starts third in a row

Chelsea vs. Ajax, Champions League: Preferred lineup

Chelsea face Ajax in the fourth game of the Champions League group stage, wherein a win could become our ticket to the knockout rounds. With some key players returning and a good win against Watford at the weekend, Frank Lampard’s squad should be in good spirits for what will be a strong test at home from the Dutch champions.

THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE

The WAGNH community have opted to go with the same lineup as on the weekend, while increasing the preference for the 4-2-3-1 formation over the 4-3-3 (27%).

Emerson and César Azpilicueta both keep their spots at full back, ahead of Marcos Alonso (35%) while Reece James (27%), respectively, while in the center, Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori continue to start, for about the millionth time in a row. (Christensen’s unclear injury status left little doubt about that.)

After stellar performances at the weekend, Jorginho and Mateo Kovačić are clearly preferred to Ross Barkley (1%) and N’Golo Kanté (30%), although the latter was only declared fit and available by Frank Lampard after most of the votes had been cast.

The attacking group stays the same as against Watford as well, with Callum Hudson-Odoi (47%) coming closest to changing that. Michy Batshuayi (13%), Olivier Giroud (4%), and Pedro (6%) miss out by quite a wide margin.

4-2-3-1 (65%)
Arrizabalaga (99%) | Emerson (63%), Tomori (98%), Zouma (95%), Azpilicueta (83%) | Kovačić (83%), Jorginho (96%) | Pulisic (80%), Mount (84%), Willian (66%) | Abraham (85%)

MY PREFERRED LINEUP

My lineup’s pretty much a carbon copy of the community’s eleven, with the sole exception of Callum Hudson-Odoi. I’m not sure why he’s being overlooked, but I believe this is the perfect opportunity to give him more minutes and for him to get his groove back.

4-2-3-1
Arrizabalaga | Emerson, Tomori, Zouma, Azpilicueta | Kovačić, Jorginho | Pulisic, Mount, Hudson-Odoi | Abraham

COME ON, YOU BLUES!!!
