Chelsea loanee Danny Drinkwater ‘could be in line’ to feature for Burnley next weekend

‘Not far away’

It’s been a dramatic 2019 for one Danny Drinkwater, less so on the pitch than off of it, especially late at night, but if things go according to plans now, he “could be in line” to feature next weekend as Burnley take on Crystal Palace.

Drinkwater has featured just once for the Clarets since joining on loan from Chelsea in the summer, and that was way back at the end of the August and it did not go spectacularly. Burnley had been hoping he would kick on from that performance anyway and shake off the rust of barely featuring for Chelsea over the previous couple seasons, but that has not quite transpired.

Still, with a month and a bit to go in his half-season loan, Drinkwater could possibly get a couple auditions to either extend it or help him start hunting for his next assignment. He was part of the traveling team this weekend, as Burnley beat Watford 3-0 at Vicarage Road, and depending on match fitness, could be ready to make his Premier League bow for Sean Dyche.

“Danny has played in the week, he is more or less there now [...] Drinky is not far away at all apart from match sharpness.”

Good luck, Tenacious Double-D!
