Frank Lampard’s Chelsea face our toughest test yet this season as we head up to Manchester to take on City at the Etihad. City will be desperate to get their flagging title challenge back on track after losing to Liverpool two weeks ago, just to make things even tougher.
On the plus side, Chelsea are relatively healthy at the moment, with only Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Antonio Rüdiger definitely set to miss out. Rather unbelievably, it would appears that we managed to survive the international break without picking up any new injuries!
Ross Barkley (ankle) and Christian Pulisic (hip) did have to withdraw from international duty altogether however last week, and that makes them both doubtful for this weekend. Lampard might shed some better light on things in Friday’s press conference, but right now their chances of playing are 50-50 at best.
Jorginho will return from suspension, boosting the midfield to nearly full health for the first time in seemingly forever.
We’re going to need to be at our very, very, very best and make all the very, very, very best choices in this one. (And then the same will be true on Wednesday, when we go to Valencia in a must-not-lose game.)
