Good news everyone! The League Cup has been canceled! So, now it’s time to concentrate on things that matter, such as keeping up with the rest of the top four in the Premier League.
The next challenge in that quest lies just north of London, in a place called Watford. Watford is a sad place these days, sitting rock bottom of the Premier League, with 5 draws, 5 losses, and 0 wins after the first 10 games, with only 5 goals scored and more conceded than even us! It’s an impressively bad record, which would be make anything other than a Chelsea win a rather annoying proposition. Of course there are no easy games in the Premier League and all that jazz.
Lampard rotated about half of the team on Wednesday, with Jorginho, Mateo Kovačić, Kurt Zouma, Marcos Alonso, and Christian Pulisic keeping their places from last weekend. For all but Pulisic, Wednesday’s match was at least a third straight start.
Unfortunately, the team’s injury situation isn’t likely to improve drastically in the three days between these two games, though Ross Barkley, Emerson, Antonio Rüdiger, and Andreas Christensen should be getting close to a return.
