Chelsea loanee Charly Musonda Jr could miss the rest of the season, if various reports over the past 12-24 hours are to be believed.
He had featured in Vitesse’s first three games of the season, but had been out since mid-August with a knee injury. At that time the injury did not sound too significant, but it now looks like that it could keep him out for the entire season.
While there has been no official confirmation either way, even the most positive report, from Belgium’s HLN, can only give an “out indefinitely” prognosis. Others are doubtful that he’d even return to Vitesse this season at all, once he does finish his rehab back at Chelsea.
He’s been struggling with the knee again: travelling between London and Arnhem.

What makes this all so much worse is of course that Musonda missed practically all of last season with a knee injury — not sure if it was the same knee, but given the tone of the reporting, it probably was — and now will miss significant time again, at the very minimum.
Sad news: Charly Musonda out for the rest of the season (again). https://t.co/zRW8Wvg9HC

With his injuries and bad loan-luck at Betis (the second time) and Celtic, it’s been over three years (years!) since he’s had any sort of regular football. He was 19 at the time. Now he’s a week shy of his 23rd birthday.
Charly was full of positive intention this summer, ready to take on the challenge of Vitesse and determined to get his career back on track. Now he has another massive setback to deal with (even if the worst case proves not to be true regarding his injury).
Get well soon, Charly!
