Could you imagine? Jose Mourinho, Arsenal manager?

Apparently the man himself can, or at least that’s what today’s hilarious report from ESPN claims.

It says that the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager (only Spurs missing from the Arsenal rivals-trifecta) “would be interested” in the job “if it became available”. Of course, the job isn’t actually available and Arsenal have “no immediate plans” to sack Unai Emery, which makes the whole report a rather fantastic troll-job from ESPN and, presumably, Mourinho himself.

Jose, who’s claimed that he’s a changed man, remains mostly unemployed since getting the heave-ho amid all the usual acrimony at Manchester United last season. He’s popped up on Sky Sports and various other outlets as a pundit — including alongside long-time adversary Arsene Wenger in somewhat surreal scenes — but has made no secret of his desire to get back to work. He does remain somewhat un-employable thanks to his history of leaving behind nothing but charred remains in Madrid, Milan, and Manchester.

Not sure if it would be hilarious or tragic if he did somehow end up at Arsenal, but it could be fascinatingly entertaining and delightfully gory, and just a wee bit terrifying, maybe.
