Chelsea fans’ preferred lineup against Burnley: Pulisic, Hudson-Odoi to start as Emerson returns!

Burnley vs. Chelsea, Premier League: Preferred lineup

After a famous victory against Ajax in the Champions League, Chelsea return to Premier League duty, taking on Burnley at Turf Moor. Sean Dyche’s side haven’t had the best of starts to the campaign, but are nevertheless a very dangerous side due to their physical presence. Let’s hope nobody gets injured here, ey?

THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE

Not much has changed for the WAGNH community since Wednesday, though the 4-2-3-1 really has taken the upper hand over the other formations: 4-3-3 coming in with 34%; 3-4-2-1 with a mere 8%.

Chelsea’s options in both defense and midfield are quite limited. Fikayo Tomori and Kurt Zouma are our only healthy centre backs. Reece James (41%) could have featured, but César Azpilicueta’s midweek heroics secured him a spot. Marcos Alonso (42%), however, is granted a breather for the returning Emerson.

With N’Golo Kanté and Ross Barkley being ruled out once more, Jorginho and Mateo Kovačić were the only realistic choices in midfield. Billy Gilmour mops up the remaining 6% of the vote.

After proving to be a game-changer against Ajax, Christian Pulisic receives the most votes of any player in attack, and starts alongside Mason Mount and Callum Hudson-Odoi. Despite fatigue possibly creeping in, Tammy Abraham gets the nod ahead of Ajax match-winner Michy Batshuayi (36%) and, less surprisingly, Olivier Giroud (10%). Willian (37%) and Pedro (22%) complete the voting.

4-2-3-1 (56%)
Arrizabalaga (99%) | Emerson (56%), Tomori (98%), Zouma (97%), Azpilicueta (69%) | Jorginho (97%), Kovačić (96%) | Hudson-Odoi (68%), Mount (75%), Pulisic (89%) | Abraham (58%)

MY PREFERRED LINEUP

On merit, both Christian Pulisic and Michy Batshuayi definitely deserve to start, as they really have proven now that they’re more than ready. Also, I concur with the community that Emerson should be brought back into the fray, and I would like to see Reece James get the start as well. Otherwise, I went with the same choices.

4-3-3/4-2-3-1
Arrizabalaga | Emerson, Tomori, Zouma, James | Kovačić, Jorginho, Mount | Pulisic, Batshuayi, Willian

COME ON, YOU BLUES!!!
