LIVE BLOG:

90+4min: FULL TIME! CHELSEA WIN!

90+2min: Another bit of silliness from Tomori and Kepa, with the latter shanking his clearance, but collecting the ball still without giving away a penalty!

90min: 4 added minutes as Alonso hacks clear another ball.

88min: Kante’s fouled in midfield but play goes on. Alonso covers well on the flank to win a goal kick however.

87min: Kovacic on for Mount as Lampard adds an extra central midfielder.

86min: Lille win a corner, Bamba takes, but Chelsea head clear. Lille retain the ball, but Alonso heads clear on the next cross before Hudson-Odoi wins a foul to let Chelsea out.

85min: Pedro on for Willian, who’s had his race run.

84min: Tomori makes a mistake at long last, as he’s caught on the ball by Osimhen, but Kepa pulls out a magic trick to grab the ball off the striker’s foot. Let off.

81min: Bamba finds space for a cross, but Kepa collects with ease.

78min: GOAL!!!!! WILLLIANNNNNN!!!!! Abraham gets Chelsea moving forward by switching play, but Chelsea hold it up and establish a position in the final third. The ball’s eventually worked to the left, where Hudson-Odoi shakes off his man and crosses in all the way to Willian at the far post. He sets up for a first-time volley and while it’s not the cleanest strike, it’s bounced into the net! 2-1, CHELSEA!!!

75min: Xeka on for Araujo in Lille’s final change.

73min: Kante turns in midfield and starts forward, finding Abraham who plays it to Willian, who finds Mount with a great pass. His first-touch is great, his finish is terrible. Big opportunity, big miss.

71min: Willian plays in Abraham, who goes for a cross-shot that doesn’t find paydirt. Lille then counter with numbers, but Osimhen goes at it alone and blazes over the bar. At the other end, Hudson-Odoi does the same.

70min: Mount with the corner; goalkeeper catches and launches a counter, but Tomori shows off his speed to track back and cover and win a throw.

69min: Azpi puts in a good cross that Lille just scramble away. Hudson-Odoi and Mount combine to win a corner.

67min: Hudson-Odoi arrives, James makes way. Chelsea switch to a 4-2-3-1. Lille respond by putting on Renato Sanches for Benjamin Andre.

64min: Willian works a couple crosses from the right, the first getting nipped off the toe of Mount, the second reaching Alonso at the far post — but his first-time volley is hit into the ground and blocked by a defender.

60min: After a bit of treatment, Ikone is able to walk off under his own power. He looks okay, but is substituted off for Yazici anyway.

58min: Zouma with a perfectly timed, if wrong-footed, crunching sliding clearance on Ikone leaves the latter in a heap, holding his knee.

57min: Willian now pops up on the left, combining with Alonso and Mount, but the latter gets his touch a bit wrong and Lille can clear. Chelsea maintaining controlled possession for a spell.

54min: Willian and James try to combine on the right flank, but they get their signals crosses and Lille have a goal kick.

52min: Gabriel and Tomori come together in the Chelsea penalty area. Lille appeal for a penalty, but it was more of a foul on Tomori than anything. Referee gives a corner, which Lille win at the near post. Kepa makes the acrobatic save with the fingertip to divert it wide. Lille’s next corner almost hits Kante in the arm (hits his side instead), before Osimhen nearly takes off Zouma’s head with a raised boot and Chelsea can finally clear.

48min: Willian takes this corner, outswinger, with Tomori rising highest, but getting his header well off target.

47min: Great ball in from Reece on the right side is cleared by a despairing Gabriel, just ahead of Abraham arriving. Lille clear the follow-up corner, but Chelsea maintain possession and win another one.

HALF-TIME: No changes for either side.

45+2min: Kante pinches the ball at halfway and drives forward, playing wide to Alonso. His crosses misses everyone in the center, but is laid back across the top from the far side. Jorginho arrives for a first-time curling effort, which smacks off the post and wide! So unlucky! Half-time.

45min: Mount swings in the free kick, finding Alonso, but his header is over the bar.

44min: Tomori presses high on the left wing and wins the ball from Ikone, who in turns fouls him to prevent a counter and gets booked.

43min: James and Mount play right to left, finding Alonso, but his cutback is cleared for a throw. Chelsea maintain possession, until Kante loses the ball. Willian tracks back, but is called for a foul.

41min: Mount wins a free kick in prime shooting position, 20-25 yards out, if a bit too central. Willian and Alonso conference over it. The latter takes, but misses the target.

40min: James bodies Bamba off the ball as the Lille player looked to break beyond the back line.

38min: Lille look long to Osimhen, but Kepa’s way out of his goal to sweep it up. Osimhen and Azpilicueta meanwhile get into a bit of handbags. The referee mediates and they shake on it.

36min: Alonso concedes a corner and Chelsea once again have tremendous trouble in dealing with it. Eventually, Jorginho carries it out of defense and we settle for a moment.

35min: Reece James into the book for a sliding tackle on Ikone. Chelsea are rattled, as Kepa catches the cross.

33min: Goal. Lille. Chelsea manage to scramble the corner away for another corner, but can’t quite do it again, as Osimhen rises highest, in between Zouma and Tomori, and nods into the back of the net with a downwards header. 1-1.

31min: Jorginho wins the ball in midfield and Willian leads the counter, but he doesn’t release the ball and Lille win it from him and launch a counter themselves. Araujo dips a shoulder on Tomori and takes aim, but Kepa’s down quickly with a big save.

29min: Abraham wins a foul on halfway after Chelsea get away with some sloppy play at the back in trying to play out. But we can’t hold on to the ball for too long.

24min: Willian turns his man in midfield and drives forward, finding Alonso on the left. He plays it back across to Mount, but he can’t quite find the space to shoot, and Lille defend desperately to prevent Alonso and Abraham from doing so as well.

22min: GOALL!!!! ABRAHAM!! Tomori with a fantastic through ball to Abraham, who turns and finishes with ease. Lille convinced he was offside and stopped playing, but replays make it clear that he was played well onside by the left back. VAR approves. 1-0, CHELSEA!!!

20min: Zouma makes a right mess of a simple play, but Kepa’s quick to come out of his area and clear ahead of the Lille player. Lille come again, but Tomori makes a key tackle.

19min: Alonso wins a free kick on the halfway line as Celik takes him out. Home fans not happy with that call, but it looked correct on replay.

18min: A Willian flick in midfield doesn’t come off and Lille try to counter on the left. Azpilicueta covers and wins a throw.

17min: Chelsea play right-to-left then left-to-right, before James and Azpi try crosses. The latter’s is cleared straight to Mount at the top of the area. He chests it down but gets his volley all wrong and well wide.

16min: Kante and Abraham combine to release Mount on the right, he’s tackled by two to win a throw, from which Chelsea play around to the left and keep possession.

14min: Lille pass it around for a bit, then release a long ball down the right channel, which is cleared by Zouma. Chelsea then win a throw from Lille’s throw as the two teams continue to feel each other out.

11min: A long ball from Alonso is just out of Mount’s reach. Chelsea having plenty of possession, but Lille fairly comfortable so far.

9min: Willian and James combine for a cross, which is punched away by Maignan just above Abraham’s head.

8min: Lille counter and win a corner, which is played short and eventually to Ikone. He works space for a shot, but it’s blocked.

5min: Chelsea, in all white, with the early possession. Lille happy to let us have it, and we work it to Alonso, who puts in a cross that is missed by a couple, including James on the far side.

3min: Willian flicks to Mount, who almost finds Abraham. Fonte intervenes.

KICK-OFF: It is indeed a 3-4-3 from Chelsea, with Tomori-Zouma-Azpi across the back, with James at wing-back.

Welcome to the Ex-Hazard Derby, which may or may not be a must-win for Chelsea if we are to have a realistic hope of reaching the knockout rounds of the Champions League. It’s probably not, but why risk it?

And sure enough, N’Golo Kante starts.

I’m guessing it’s a 3-4-3, but it could also be a 4-3-3 with either Azpilicueta or Reece James as the third midfielder.
