PICTURES: Emerson joins as Chelsea train in the rain

The work continues

Left back Emerson Palmieri is not expected to be ready for match action until sometime next week at the earliest, but he has now returned to full training with Chelsea and that’s certainly a good sign of progress. Unfortunately, none of the pictures available have N’Golo Kanté on them, which is not a good sign.

With Kanté most likely out this weekend, Frank Lampard will have to choose from the likes of Mateo Kovačić, Ross Barkley, and Mason Mount to play in either the double pivot (if playing a 4-2-3-1 or a 3-4-3) or a three-man midfield (if playing a 4-3-3). Kovačić seems like the likeliest candidate, though we’ve seen Barkley deployed in that role a couple times now as well, and he’s coming off a fantastic game for England against Bulgaria earlier in the week.

But anyway, that’s all serious business, so here’s Lampard, Morris, and Joe Edwards laughing it up, before the rains his on Thursday.
