How should still injury-hit Chelsea line up against Newcastle United?

Chelsea’s injury concerns have not improved too much over the past two weeks, and in many ways, the international break has made things worse once again.

N’Golo Kanté is once again doubtful, as is Andreas Christensen. Antonio Rüdiger is still not back, and while Emerson has joined in training on Wednesday, this weekend probably comes too soon for him.

In better news, Mateo Kovačić, Reece James, and Ross Barkley should be available. Barkley had been spotted with an ice pack on his leg after England’s 6-0 win in Bulgaria, but that was probably only because he was on fire in that game. James had been back at Cobham for the past week after initially joining up with the England U21s, while Kovačić has apparently managed to escape any serious damage from being run over from behind in Croatia’s match against Wales.

Chelsea have a four-match win streak going in all competitions. A midweek trip to Amsterdam to play Ajax in the Champions League group stage looms after this game.

Choose wisely.
