The international break technically wasn’t yet over, but at least some (and possibly all) of Chelsea’s non-internationals were already back at Cobham yesterday (Tuesday), training and getting ready for Saturday’s game against Newcastle United.
In the pictures, we can see the likes of Willian, Pedro, César Azpilicueta, Marcos Alonso, but also a certain Reece James, which is great new since the youngster had to leave the England U21 squad last week due to a knock he had picked up. So hopefully that problem won’t affect him too much over the coming weeks.
James was one of five (five!) Chelsea first-team players to pick up various knocks and injuries during the international break, including N’Golo Kanté, Mateo Kovačić, Ross Barkley, and Andreas Christensen. While none of them warranted immediate panic, we will have to wait and see how badly it will have affected them for the games coming up. Fingers crossed!
So far the first team injuries in the international break... James, Christensen, Kante, Kovacic and Barkley. I don’t think any are serious. Let’s wait and see in the next few days

In more positive news, we should also be getting Antonio Rüdiger and Emerson back very soon as well, perhaps as early as the weekend.
