Last time, it took Chelsea 42 months. This time only 18. Álvaro Morata is now gone, theoretically on a loan for a year and a half, practically for good. Incidentally, Fernando Torres also ended up at Atlético (though by way of AC Milan), first on loan then permanently.
If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything, as the old saying goes, so all we have left to do now is wish Álvaro the best of luck, the happiest of days, the calmest of minds, and the surest of touches in front of goal. If he does well, we’ll be due another €50m via the buy-option — another €50m repaid!
Morata lives part of his life — the perfect part, to be sure — on Instagram, and that’s where his farewell to Chelsea-land appeared as well shortly after his move was confirmed yesterday. It was perfectly perfunctory, which makes it perhaps the least perfect post on there.
“Thank you, goodbye and good luck!! #KTBFFH”
Well said.
