Chelsea’s relentless belief that standalone Apps are still a thing continues with the latest push to get people to download and install “The 5th Stand”, which, despite its generic name, is actually the official App of Chelsea Football Club. The club must’ve spent on a tremendous amount on this as we’ve basically given up a solid YouTube presence and made it practically impossible to easily share any of this content, some of which is actually pretty good.
This one, featuring the bromance of David Luiz and Olivier Giroud isn’t necessarily one of those better videos, but it’s still a good time-waster during a rare open midweek. It also shows that Giroud has a swollen ankle, which might be a concern for the weekend.
Olivier Giroud and David Luiz were playing basketball ahead of an interview with Chelsea TV earlier, and Giroud was asked by @sammatterface why he wasn't wearing shoes. He simply pointed to his left ankle, which appears swollen. Will he make #CFC's squad to face #AFC?

In any case, you can watch the first 10 minutes on Facebook and catch a few highlights on the official website, but if you’re interested in seeing the rest, you’ll have to get the App.

Some of the highlights involve basketball, including the two Chelsea players showing just how bad they are at it, and that’s due to a cross-promotion with the New York Knicks, who were playing in London against the Wizards last night.

As usual, many Premier League stars made it out to the O2 Arena, including several Chelsea boys.

Incidentally, David Luiz had already participated in a similar basketball challenge back in 2014 (alongside Petr Cech, Demba Ba, Eden Hazard, and André Schürrle), and because that’s on YouTube, we can easily embed it and watch it once again. See how well that works, Chelsea?
