David Luiz is into the final six months of his contract, and recent reports about an extension have not been too optimistic. The two sides are reportedly some way apart on terms, including length and financial compensation.
But, despite those differences, David Luiz is still hoping that a deal can be worked out. He’s of course leaving that task mostly in the hands of his representatives as he focuses on his football and his key role in Sarri’s tactical plans.
“I am talking with Chelsea [regarding a new contract]. My wish has always been, and it still is, to stay.”
“We have been talking about it for a while. So I want to always focus on my work, independently of a contract or not.”

Chelsea over-30 policy means that David will not be offered an extension longer than one-year. If he can accept that, and agree to the financials as well, he just might get his wish and stick around for a bit longer at Stamford Bridge.
