How should Chelsea line up against Southampton to start 2019 right?

Chelsea vs. Southampton, Premier League: You choose the starting lineup

Chelsea have managed to end 2018 with a bit of an injury crisis, and unless Maurizio Sarri is willing to reinstate the likes of Danny Drinkwater, Victory Moses, or even Lucas Piazon from the dog house — unlikely, to be sure — he’ll be left picking from a fairly small squad for Wednesday night’s tilt against Southampton at the Bridge, especially as far as attacking options are concerned.

Olivier Giroud’s ankle injury looked concerning in live time on Sunday against Crystal Palace — he scored two excellent goals that were ruled out for offside, and got hurt on the second one — and he’s currently without a return date. Pedro is not expected back for at least another week as he deals with a hamstring injury, while the young duo of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi were both nursing minor knocks over the weekend. Cesc Fàbregas is also dealing with a knock as Chelsea face relegation threatened Saints before a weekend of FA Cup action against a lower league opponent provides a good chance for rotation.

Choose wisely.
