What do we do in January?

A few friends and I have been racking our brains as to what moves we should make during the winter break. What moves can we realistically make? This is probably way too early of a discussion to have but the striker position seems to clearly need some new blood (my take). Giroud has done fantastic in his role of scoreless striker since the world cup and has cemented his role as a starter in my mind. In contrast Morata (bless his kind soul) has continuously disappointed in his showings. I really wanted him to succeed and celebrated each and every goal he scored as if they were 2012 champions league final equalizers but theyve come to few and far between. I don't think I'm saying anything that hasn't been rehashed over and over again by most fans. What I'm interested in hearing is your opinions about who we should pursue come January and the odds of us actually being able to pull it off. For the sake of organisation, talking about 3 different options ranked by odds of completion makes sense in my mind. And by all means, any position or weaknesses can and should be considered, I'm just personally focused on our striker issue.

That being said, here's what I came up with:

  • Mauro Icardi: Personal favorite of mine with 29 goals in Serie A last year and a bit of a nasty side to him (far from being the Costa of my heart but still...). Truth be told, I haven't been able to see enough of him live but have always been impressed by his game and stats. The fact that he hasnt been able to break through an Argentina squad has always been weird for me. At 25, he could be somebody to bring on for the long run. He's publicly come out and professed his love for Inter though and his dream of being there for a long time and rumors are that he's going to sign a new contract so odds of getting him are pretty low in my mind.
  • Anthony Martial: Hear me out on this one. I REALLY REALLY like Martial. That is all. All jokes aside, truly believe that he would make a fantastic center forward and that he's been stifled by Mourinho's rigid tactics. The longer Mourinho stays, the higher the odds of Martial moving on (even to a rival team) grow. His pace, ball control and overall filthiness would do wonders for our strike force.
  • Andrea Belotti: I jumped on his bandwagon last year and I'm constantly worried about him being a one season wonder. But what I like about him is that he's one of those willing bull-like hard runners that also has a fantastic eye for a goal (a la Vardy.... but younger). I do not believe he fits in as a prototypical Sarri striker at all as I do not rate his link up play as much as the previous 2 but I feel that he would be the best suited at being a "premier league striker". Strength, speed, precision and surprising aerial prowess (was gonna say "head-game"....) are always a successful combination for a striker in our league. Alot of teams (including us) were looking at him but nothing really materialized(probably because he was injured right?). He hasnt shown the one-touch target man gamplay that I love from Giroud but I'd be willing to risk it anyway and I feel like he'd be the most reachable of the 3.
What do you guys think??
