The legend of Eden Hazard’s winning goal at Anfield is already growing, and it’s only a few hours old.

Not only is the third time* now that Hazard has put Liverpool to the sword with a wondergoal, but after the match, he revealed that this particular one has a fun genesis story as well.

Hazard started on the bench, alongside fellow best player N’Golo Kante, and it was the midfielder who kindly asked Hazard to stop messing about and settle this thing in normal time.

“I spoke with N’Golo on the bench & he told me he didn’t want to take a penalty, so the only solution was to score!”

Legends.

Assistant manager Gianfranco Zola, a man who knows a thing or two about scoring fantastic goals was full of praise afterwards as well.

“He’s one of the best in Europe & in the world. He’s going fast in maturity, in choices on the pitch, & in my opinion we haven’t seen the best yet. He has unbelievable potential & he’s beginning to use it only in the right moment.”

Zola had said before the match that the coaching staff are looking to improve Hazard and help him reach his final form in the prime of his career. One big step forward in that regard then today.

Oh, and here’s the goal, in case you want to watch it a few more times.
