A mysterious injury “near” his knee had kept Cesc Fàbregas out of contention for most of the season so far. The issue was supposed to be dealt with in just couple of weeks. Instead, it took him more than a month to be back to business.

Expectedly, the man with the Magic Hat is glad to be back after completing his return with a 25-minute cameo in the 1-0 win over PAOK in the Europa League last Thursday.

“It is great to be back. Football is what I love the most to do in my life and I missed it a lot. I had to be patient.

“[The knee injury] was apparently something that should have kept me out for only 10-15 days and it took longer than it should. I’m really happy because I struggled a little bit.

“I didn’t expect it to be that long. I’m at home, I’m only thinking about this, I’m sad. My family is the one that paid for it the most.”

Now the sadness is over. He is looking forward to the rest of the season, which he expects to be a long one with several trophies to compete for, and potentially win.

“[Being injured] is the thing we dislike the most as football players — we just want to train, keep fit and play games, especially with the team doing well.”

“I just want to be part of it and, hopefully, now it is the start of a very long and good season for me and the team.”
