Rüdiger limps off against West Ham with apparent muscle injury

Uh-oh

Chelsea’s injury list appears to be growing once again, as in the 70th minute of the match against West Ham United on Sunday, Antonio Rüdiger was forced off with an apparent muscle injury.

While he was able to leave the pitch under his own power, the injury was described as a groin injury, and those have a tendency to linger well beyond any initial prognosis.

Rüdiger thus joins Pedro in the treatment room just as Cesc Fàbregas and Mateo Kovačić had returned from there.

Extra concerning is the fact that Rüdiger has been Chelsea’s best center back this season. He was replaced by Gary Cahill, who had not played a single minute up to that point this season.
