WATCH: Marcos Alonso keeping sharp by practicing free kicks with a basketball hoop

Who needs hands?

Marcos Alonso’s free kicks are becoming the stuff of legend at Chelsea. He’s scored four in a little over two years, and has hit the bar nearly as many times as well, almost all from the same spot. Basically, if the free kick is within range and on the right side of the pitch, it’s Alonso’s to take. He’s earned the right.

So how does he keep his skills sharp? By playing basketball, apparently. With his feet. Here’s a clip from training in which he rims out a shot from distance.

Pshaw, you say. Anyone can miss.

Ah, but he doesn’t always miss.

Here he is showing off the accuracy at the start of last season, when Dude Perfect came to Cobham shoot a trick shots video.

As with any good skill, repetition is key.

Here he is from February, just having a bit of fun of the training ground.

Not a bad left foot. Not bad at all.

P.S.: In case you missed it, or just want to have some fun, here’s that Dude Perfect video featuring the YouTube crew alongside Alonso, Morata, Cahill, and Courtoisssssss.
