As first spotted on Ola Aina’s Instagram and then confirmed by the Chelsea official Twitter account as well, Ruben “The nation’s buff boy” Loftus-Cheek was back at Cobham today, Monday, a few days earlier than he had been due to return.

Loftus-Cheek will surely be out to prove a point at his boyhood club after his good, albeit limited in terms of minutes in the knockout rounds, showing at the World Cup. Some might say that Ruben needs all the rest he can get after a season partially plagued by injuries but it will certainly do his chances of staking a claim for a spot in our midfield no harm to return now.
Coming back early to try and fight for a spot under new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri will certainly not go unnoticed and one can only hope that the new head coach will give the youngster great credit for his ambition ... as long as Ruben adapts to our new style of play of course (just like everyone else).
Ruben is just the first of the last batch of players who are set to return, finally, after their post-World Cup vacations. Some are already in London — for example Michy Batshuayi — and should be rejoining training soon. Hopefully they’re all fast learners as the season starts in less than two weeks!
The rest of the world cup players could be back on Monday/Tuesday.

A few have returned to London and Sarri did say he would talk to them face to face at the end of the month #CFC
