Academy midfielder moves to Shrewsbury on loan

After playing paltry minutes at Vitesse Arnhem in the first half of last season, an injury prevented Charlie Colkett from finding another club in January. However, he’s once again ready to enter the fold after signing for League One club, Shrewsbury Town, on a season-long loan.

This will not be Colkett’s first spell in League One, of course. His first senior loan spell was in the English third tier with Bristol Rovers, where he started off brightly but after a dearth of regular minutes, ended up having to move to Swindon, in League Two, for the rest of the season. Charlie assisted a fair amount of goals in his time at Swindon but ultimately proved to be too much of a “luxury” player for a team floundering in a relegation battle.

The central midfielder turns 22 in just over a month and will hope to turn his fortunes around at Montgomery Waters Meadow.
