Chelsea completed another day of pre-season training under Antonio Conte and staff on Tuesday — a strenuous double session, of course, as one would expect — with the customary balance balls making their first appearance of the summer. Those agility exercises and strength exercises always seem to go over quite well with the players, and judging by the pictures from yesterday, they did so once again.

Conte’s future at Chelsea may be in serious doubt, but you wouldn’t know that from what we’ve seen on the training ground. So credit to him, his staff, and the players for going about their business in a professional way.

As to what the future may or may not hold, today (Wednesday) is supposed to be another crucial day in the Sarri saga, which has truly become dramatic this week with the possibility of a Jorginho signing as well. Conte would undoubtedly tell Sarri to not expect that sort of backing from the club constantly.

As long as that continues to drag on however, Conte will be expected to continue getting the players in shape, and they will undoubtedly all get on with the business of pre-season just fine. It’s a weird situation, but it’s the hand we’ve dealt ourselves.
