It would appear that Chelsea's coaching situation will be resolved at long last. No, not today and probably not tomorrow either, but "next week".
While we've heard that line a few times over the past month, for the first time, it's not just Italian sources reporting it, but the trusty well-sourced duo of the Telegraph's Matt Law and the Guardian's Dom Fifield.
In fact, with both of them essentially writing the same article for their respective newspapers, we can safely assume that they've been briefed on at least some of this.
So while there isn't much detail provided beyond just the declaration that Chelsea will (or at least expect to) appoint Sarri and pay-off Conte, this is already more progress than we've seen in weeks and weeks.
Previous rumors placed Sarri's personal terms at either 2 or 3 years, with an option for 1 or 2 more, at anywhere between €5-6m annual r wages. It's also unclear how much Chelsea will have to pay Napoli to release Sarri; that range is anywhere between €0-8m, though getting him for free would be surprising after this 1.5-month stand-off. Conte's severance should be around the £9m mark.
Those details might get clarified as we move into next week and this supposed end to the half-summer-long material saga.
