LIVE BLOG

90+3min: FULL TIME.

90+2min: Fellaini shoots wide and that should just about do it. Belgium win the group, setting them up for a potential quarterfinal against Brazil. England now play Colombia and if they win, then the winner of Sweden vs. Switzerland.

89min: Another strong save by Pickford, this time on Mertens effort from range to keep it 1-0.

83min: England starting to threaten. Fellaini with the goal-line clearance before Courtois catches a corner.

66min: Rashford misses an easy chance. Excellent save by Thibaut Courtois! (Maybe.)

58min: LOL MICHY

52min: Januzaj scores! We might have action!

45min: HALF-TIME yay!

21min: Well this is going to be boring. It’ll be funny when the mentality shown here carries over to the first knockout round and both teams lose despite all these supposed Machiavellian shenanigans.

19min: Tielemans booked. England now have a two-point lead over Belgium in the Fair Play standings, which we might use as tie-breaker yet. Belgium fans cheer their own yellow because this is all a bit silly.

6min: Tielemans unleashes an absolute howitzer; Pickford with a strong two hands to it, saves

3min: No one’s told Jamie Vardy that this is just a meaningless pseudo-friendly.

KICK-OFF: And we’re off, England moving left to right on the TV screens.

All the qualifiers for the Round of 16 have been decided, but Belgium and England will still play for the “privilege” of being on the tougher side of the knockout bracket. It’s a bit of an odd situation that has led to suggestions of England throwing the game (in a sense), but both sets of players have made it pretty clear that they’d want to win. Pride and momentum are at stake. Both managers have decided to rotate their squads, which is probably the most sensible “solution”.

There’s also Panama vs. Tunisia, if anyone cares.
