After two, perhaps surprise, 2-1 wins earlier today, including the first win for a team from Africa during this World Cup — Senegal! — as well as an excellent win for Japan over Colombia, it’s now Egypt’s turn to do something special.
Russia were surprisingly impressive in their first game, a 5-0 win, but Saudi Arabia are probably the worst team in the tournament. Meanwhile, Egypt gambled that they could achieve a draw against Uruguay without Mo Salah, and their plan worked for almost 90 minutes until Uruguay’s Gimenez popped up with the winning header in the final minute of regulation.
Salah’s back now and ready to put Russia and Chelsea transfer target Aleksandr Golovin to the sword.
Here we go.
