90+2min: Dier on for Lingard as England look to lock it down.

90+1min: Kane wins it!

88min: Rashford the latest England player to whiff on his shot after good work from RLC on the right side.

85min: Khalifa on for Khazri in Tunisia’s final sub of the day.

83min: Strong wrists from the Tunisian (backup) goalkeeper to punch clear the corner danger. He’s now hurt, too.

80min: Here comes Loftus-Cheek to save the day. Dele off.

79min: Ashley Young hits a free kick harmlessly over the bar.

73min: Sliti goes off for Ben Amor, whose name amuses the Telemundo commentators to no end. They have plenty of love for Ben Amor.

72min: Couple long-range efforts from Tunisia to remind that they’re in the game as well.

70min: Rashford almost makes an immediate telling impact, but his through ball for Kane is intercepted at the last second.

68min: Rashford on for Sterling. Gameplan unchanged. Trippier hits a free kick wide.

66min: Maguire lumbers forward to unsettle the defense but eventually England settle for just another useless cross that goes too long.

60min: England are encamped on Tunisia’s half, but no real chances are being created.

53min: Pickford’s caught in no-man’s land but his blushes are saved by an incorrect offside flag. Those are the situations where FIFA had been encouraging officials to stay the quick flags, but this linesman did not heed that advice.

51min: Chance from a corner but goalkeeper saves. Kane’s literally wrestled to the ground once again without the referee making a call.

49min: Not much flow or quality thus far in the second-half. Fouls and giveaways dominate.

46min: And we’re back underway as a swarm of tiny flies descends on the pitch.

45+3min: Hilarious first-half comes to a close, all knotted up at 1-1.

44min: And now Lingard hits the post after poking the ball past the onrushing goalkeeper. LOL.

43min: Lingard looks ready to score but his left-footed volley is deflected for a corner, which is wasted.

39min: England’s hilarious shot attempts continue, with two more mis-kicks inside the penalty area with the goal gaping.

35min: Penalty? Walker smacks Ben Youssef in the head with his left arm while battling for a cross. The Tunisian player collapses to the ground and the referee points to the spot. VAR has no objections and neither do most England players. Walker gets a yellow. Sassi beats Pickford, who guesses correctly.

31min: Maguire gets his head to a ball at the other end, too, but the goalkeeper saves.

27min: Maguire dallies on the ball, loses it. Sassi’s long shot gets deflected wide however. Maguire clears the resulting corner.

23min: Tunisia win a corner! It goes over the head of everybody.

18min: England onslaught continues. Cross from the right just barely eludes a couple legs before the ball comes out to Henderson who hammers it goalwards. New goalkeeper saves well and hangs on.

15min: Tunisian goalkeeper Hassen forced to come off with shoulder injury he picked up in the first few minutes. He’s devastated; F.Ben Mustapha comes on to replace him.

11min: The corner is headed goalwards by Stones. Goalkeeper saves but Kane’s there to tap home the rebound. 1-0 England.

10min: Frantic early action settles down a bit. England control possession. Kane tries his luck from distance, gets a corner out of it.

4min: Sterling misses an empty net, but his blushes are saved by the offside flag on Lingard.

3min: England somehow fail to score despite cutting Tunisia’s defence to shreds. Sterling just misses, then Lingard’s shot goes out for a corner; Maguire’s header saved acrobatically.

KICK-OFF: And we’re off! England in red, Tunisia in white.

Belgium have laid down the marker in Group G with a 3-0 win over Panama. Now it’s England’s turn against Tunisia. All eyes on the Three Lions as sentiment continues to grow behind them.

Alas, neither Cahill nor Loftus-Cheek start.
