FULL-TIME: Mexico have done it!!!

90+3min: Neuer goes up for this German corner, but Mexico clear for a throw. Ochoa then collects a desperation cross.

90+1min: Ochoa off his line well to intercept an Ozil through ball.

90min: 3 minutes added on.

89min: Brandt with an almost spectacular first-time shot after a mad scramble in the box. Ochoa then holds Boateng’s daisy-cutter.

87min: Gomez gets his head on a ball inside the six, but his header is over the bar.

86min: Final roll of Low’s dice: Brandt on for Werner.

84min: Sloppy turnover leads to another Kroos rasper but Ochoa saves well. Hummels collects a yellow for a late, frustrated tackle.

81min: Mexico find their counter, but can’t find a telling pass despite being 3-v-2. A few seconds later it’s 4-v-3 but Layun’s shot flies high and just wide.

79min: Germany put on the Gomez battering ram. Plattenhardt, the left back, makes way as Low goes all-out attack.

78min: Marquez wins the ball and launches a counter, 1-v-1 for Layun, but he doesn’t win the foot-race and his early shot is just high.

76min: Classic Kroos first-time effort from top of the box bends just wide. Mexico with 10-men behind the ball, and very deep.

73min: The veteran Rafa Marquez, in his fifth (5!) World Cup, comes on to replace Guardado. Mexico in close-out mode.

70min: Penalty shout from Chicharito, ignored. Seen them given.

68min: Draxler then Werner shoot over in quick succession. Mexico starting to look a bit ragged.

66min: The excellent Chucky has run himself into the ground; Jimenez comes on to replace him.

65min: A spectacular overhead kick effort from Kimmich lands on top of the net. Mexico dropping very geep.

60min: Germany make their first change, and it’s one that shows clear attacking intent: Reus on for Khedira.

58min: Meixco make a defensive change as Alvarez replaces Vela, adding to midfield numbers deeper. Ocho meanwhile makes a great save though it’s ruled offside.

57min: What a wasted 2-v-1 opportunity as Mexico launch a perfect counter, but Chicharito’s pass is wide of Vela and the chance is gone.

54min: Final third passing lacking at the moment for either side. Germany settling for long-shots. Blocked efforts from Draxler, Kroos follow.

50min: Slightly more measured start to the half by both teams. Plattenhardt’s long shot is easily held.

46min: Back underway. No changes.

45+1min: Aaand breathe. Half-time.

45min: And another Mexico counter, but Vela goes for the safe option. A shot is still generated, the 18th of the half between the two teams, but Vela’s effort is wide.

42min: Another Mexico counter, but Germany recover well this time and force the ball wide where it’s eventually lost.

37min: Germany look to answer and Khedira’s shot is blocked well. But Mexico can’t get out and Germany win a foul in great shooting position. Kroos hits it, and it goes off the crossbar after Ochoa gets a few fingertips to it.

35min: Another counter and this time Mexico make it count. Chicharito finds Chucky, he cuts back and spanks one past Neuer at the near post.

33min: Mexico putting on the pressure, but Gallardo’s cross is cleared. El Tri keep possession, and Vela almost finds Layun making a great run into the area. Pass just a bit too long.

30min: 13 shots in the first 30 minutes is a rather fun total. Both goalkeepers very assured so far.

27min: Vela’s cross is blocked with Chicharito just waiting for a tap-in. Second time Vela has failed to make the telling, obvious pass.

26min: Chicharito, Layun, Lozano lead the latest counter, but Chucky can’t find space to shoot and Layun’s long-range effort goes high.

22min: Tenth shot of the match already draws another Ochoa save. Chucky Lozano with the poor midfield turnover to gift that chance to Germany for the Kroos blast from distance.

20min: Ochoa with another save, collecting Werner’s snap-shot on the turn.

18min: Chicharito doesn’t pull the trigger and the chance is gone. Another great counter from Mexico and it’s baffling that it didn’t result in a shot.

16min: Kimmich’s cross is almost turned into his own net by Salcedo. The following corner results in a long shot, but Ochoa catches.

14min: Bit of midfield choppiness leads to a free kick on the right side. A great ball in, but Neuer saves the header in classic style.

9min: Mexico break but Vela doesn’t find a good pass on the counter. Still wins a free-kick, which Layun takes but not very well.

7min: Germany get behind Mexico’s defensive line once again; Hummels has his shot saved from the resulting corner.

3min: Werner with Germany’s first shot, but it’s from a very tight angle and goes wide of the far post.

1min: Chucky Lozano almost makes himself a hero but his shot is blocked at the last minute. Excellent build-up by Mexico, starting with a flick from Chicharito. Neuer eventually collects the follow-up corner

KICK-OFF: And we’re off in front an absolutely raucous crowd.

Today’s middle game features the defending champions against a young and potentially exciting Mexico side.

Antonio Rüdiger unfortunately does not start for Germany.

Should be a good one.
