One thing jumped out from Antonio Conte’s team sheet on Sunday afternoon for our Liverpool match-up. All the usual suspects were there from last week’s 1-0 win at Swansea, with Marcos Alonso reclaiming his spot at left wing-back after coming off of suspension.
But one name was missing. A big one, in Álvaro Morata. And then word filtered out that he was injured.
Oh no, not again!
Apparently #Morata picked up an injury in training yesterday #cfc

Thankfully, it doesn’t sound serious. At the press conference after Sunday’s slim but huge 1-0 win over Liverpool at the Bridge to maintain our Champions League classification hopes in the Premier League, Conte was optimistic that our striker would be fit for Wednesday’s match against Huddersfield.
“It is not serious. In my mind there is the intention to have him for Huddersfield. I hope to have him, it is not serious. I hope to recover him because today on the bench, no striker. It is very difficult to prepare if you have another.”

With Conte saying he’d rotate for the midweek match, this is good news. Olivier Giroud, who took another hammering on Sunday, seems like a likely candidate to get a breather. And if he doesn’t, then maybe we’ll see him paired with Morata in the combination that worked so well for the 2-1 win at Burnley last month.
